Forth take on near neighbours Shotts Bon Accord at Kingshill Park tomorrow in the 2nd round of the Central League Cup with a 2pm kick-off.
Shotts have become something of Cup specialists in recent years, winning the Surridge League Cup last year and losing in the finals of the Central League Cup and the Evening Times Cup. This year, they lost in the final of the Surridge League Cup to Petershill and have reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Junior Cup where they have been drawn to face Largs Thistle. We wish them well in their quest for glory in the Scottish.
The teams met at the beginning of the season in the Surridge League Cup sections, Shotts winning comfortably 4-1 at Hannah Park, with this season’s leading scorer Craig Miles netting 2 of his 13 goals that night. Miles has been ably assisted this season by Stefan McCluskey, who has scored 11 to date.
Shotts currently lie 10th in the Super League First Division although they have several games in hand over the teams above them, in fact they still have 15 league matches still to play ! They’ve won 6 of their 11 league games to date, losing 3 and drawing the other 2, scoring 28 goals in the process and conceding 15.
The Wanderers are without Barry Canning and the injured Bryan Felvus and it will be interesting to see whether manager Jamie McKenzie takes the opportunity to freshen things up with one eye on the remaining league fixtures.
